“I love Cape Cod Chris,”

Kaley is a friend of the show’s host, Chris Harrison, and she takes full advantage, hoping he’ll give her some inside info:

“I love Chris Harrison. He is a friend of mine, so every time I see him, I am, ‘What is happening?’”

She says that even though the relationships don’t normally last after the show ends, she still enjoys it:

“What relationship really stays together? Just because you are on ‘The Bachelor,’ it doesn’t mean that your relationship is going to stay together, as much as I would love to believe that. I still think it is fun.”

Kaley’s boyfriend is a victim of her obsession – she makes him watch it with her.

“He is miserable. He is, ‘Is it going to be Chris or Roberto?’ I go, ‘See, you love it.’”

LOL! Poor guy! I’m sure he’s glad the season finale is next Monday, then he can watch something else. Are you watching this season’s Bachelorette? Who do you hope Ali picks?

I don’t watch Kaley Cuoco’s show, Big Bang Theory, because it’s on CBS and it never occurs to me to change the channel to CBS, no matter how hot that guy on The Mentalist is. From the commercials I’ve seen, though, it looks like something I’d generally enjoy, so I feel safe giving her a few points anyway.

I also generally enjoy the things she’s been wearing on the red carpet lately. She seems to have her own sense of style and has worn a few things that I wouldn’t expect most actresses to pick – she tends to skew a little more than the rest of the crowd. That’s definitely the case with her plunging Nicole Miller gown, which she wore to the 2010 Grammy Awards. The cut is perfect on her body; she’s small-chested enough to wear such a daring neckline without looking vulgar but still has enough up top to fill it out a bit. She finished the look with a colorful, sparkling Sylvia Toledano clutch to create one of my favorite looks at the Grammys.

When I arrived back at the first season, I thought to myself, “Well, I bet it’s not as bad as I remember.” After all, very often, things look different with perspective. (I didn’t like the pilot of Friday Night Lights, either, but when I see it now, it holds up fine in the context of what came later.) And then an odd thing happened: it was much, much worse.

The pilot is terrible. The pilot is really, really terrible. And while there are many reasons for that — Leonard and Sheldon are too similar, their odd-couple dynamic isn’t firing yet, Sheldon’s quirks aren’t cranked up to heaven yet, and the writing feels very “pilot-y,” for lack of a more precise descriptor — the biggest problem is Penny, the only woman in the core cast, played by Kaley Cuoco. Penny lives across the hall from physicists Leonard and Sheldon, and while she’s now Leonard’s girlfriend and well-integrated with the guys and their friends, when the show started, Penny was not a person; she was a prop.

Nothing was ever seen from Penny’s point of view; she almost never had a joke that wasn’t at her own expense. Here’s all her dialogue from the first scene she ever did:

“Oh, hi.” “Hi.” “Oh, that’s nice.” “Oh, okay, well, guess I’m your new neighbor, Penny.” “Hi.” “Hi.” “Oh, thank you, maybe we can have coffee sometime.” “Great.” “Bye.” And here’s the dialogue from her second scene: “Hi.” “Hi.” “Oh, you’re inviting me over to eat?” “Oh, that’s so nice. I’d love to.” “So what do you guys do for fun around here?”

But perhaps nothing speaks to the Penny problem that the show had early on any more straightforwardly than the way she’s introduced. In the very first seconds of this collection of everything she did in the pilot, you’ll see the first time Penny was ever on screen: framed by her door, little shorts, belly showing, in profile, seen but unaware of being seen.

This is, in maybe the most literal form in which you’ll ever see it, the male gaze. She exists relative to Leonard and Sheldon’s arrival home (just standing there reading a magazine in profile with the door open!), relative to their door, relative to their apartment. It’s a comedy, but it’s still true. This is it; this is the thing. This is the thing people talk about where she’s not really herself, she’s just the lady standing in the doorway.

In fact, Cuoco quite literally was using a different, more cartoony voice for Penny back then. Listen to her in this clip from later in the pilot (you’ll notice her dialogue has not yet improved, but also that the one bright spot was already the spark of weirdness in Jim Parsons as Sheldon):

Holding out hope for a Sheldon-Penny romance on The Big Bang Theory? It might be time to throw in the towel. Speaking to reporters at press tour this morning, exec producer Chuck Lorre pretty much shot down any chance there was of the polar opposites hooking up.

“Part of what’s wonderful and unique about [Sheldon] is he has chosen not to play in the relationship game either way — heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, any sexuality,” Lorre said. “He has said, ‘This is not for me. I’m a scientist. All I’m interested in is science and what George Lucas thinks.’ We’ve stumbled into creating a character who has chosen a lifestyle for himself that is unique. And I don’t see any reason to modify it.”

Added fellow e.p. Bill Prady: “[Sheldon] has made [a] choice that work and all of that is where he finds his passion.”

Lorre acknowledged that Jim Parsons and Kaley Cuoco have “become a natural comic pairing because [Penny] can tell him the truth. She’s not intimidated by him. They bounce off each other beautifully.”

Lorre also admitted that the Penny character was “underserved” in the Big Bang pilot, a problem he quickly set out to rectify. “It was [a priority] to develop that character and find more depth.”

Mission accomplished, right? And thoughts about Lorre and Prady’s stance on Sheldon’s romantic life?

I have been hearing reports about a possible Clock Tower movie since we started Horror Yearbook back in 2006. There was even a rumor that Milla Jovovich was going to star as Alyssa Turner at some point. So I was a little surprised when Kaley Cuoco’s name popped up on IMDB as being attached to the film.

The last article published on IMDB’s news desk is from the website 28 Days Later, dated April 4, 2009 and it reads:

“A horror film fan has dropped me a line on writer Jace Anderson’s latest production Clock Tower, and Capcom’s video game adaption is moving towards a 2010 release date. Written by Jace Anderson from Autopsy, this film is sure to sprinkle in some gore for fans. And Apparently there have been over six screenwriters for the Clock Tower, production. Set backs involving, studio Senator Entertainment, finding the right cast and crew for the film has caused some delay.”

So are we going to be seeing a Clock Tower movie starring Cuoco in 2010? I have no friggen idea… This is just an excuse to publish pictures of her from Maxim magazine.

Cuoco starred in the horror/comedy Killer Movie, was “Billie Jenkins” on 22 episodes of Charmed and is rumored to be attached to the upcoming Scream 4. Check out her hot pictures from Maxim here.

The Favorite TV Comedy winner was the sitcom “The Big Bang Theory,” in which cast members Kaley Cuoco, Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, Simon Helberg, and Kunal Nayyar accepted the award along with their writers and producers.

Queen Latifah is hosting the awards show, which is airing live on CBS from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.  The awards are based on votes from the fans in areas of music, television, and movies.
